A “Both Sides” Painting by Bob Nonnemacher
32 x 22 | Acrylic
A step-by-step photo journey depicting the “both sides” process in the making of “When an Idea Blossoms.”
“When an Idea Blossoms” incorporates 176 pieces of painted canvas (from both the wet and dry sides of a single canvas) that have been reassembled onto a new piece of canvas creating a dynamic and vibrant final image.

Here the splatter-and-drip painting technique has been applied to the "wet" side of the canvas.

A close-up of the splatter-and-drip technique showing 10 different colors of paint that create the effect of two main colors in the overall design (yellow and purple).

A close-up of the grid drawn onto the canvas showing the simple cut pattern (squares). In this stage, the canvas (which is painted on both sides -- one side in the "wet" technique and one side in the "dry" technique) will now be cut into 176 pieces.

A close-up of the original canvas cut up and then reassembled (with every other piece turned over) and then glued to a new piece of canvas --- note the differentiation of the "wet" and "dry" pieces shown in the "every other piece" pattern.

The final imagery, comprised of 176 pieces, all reassembled and glued together onto a new piece of canvas

Adding white lines completes "When an Idea Blossoms." 32 x 22 Acrylic $850
